Abigail & Heather were happily thrown together, solo parenting little ones, sea dipping, and rose drinking whilst living at one of the UK’s most northerly military bases. Over many a kitchen counter planning session they have developed Sunday Scout into a kit thats ready for adventure but builds your resilience in covering life’s more unpredictable moments.

Abigail has two young daughters, 9 comedy chickens and a rescue lurcher. Her other great loves are north sea dipping, pilates, rogue baking with her girls, and the odd spicey marg!

As a partner of a serving military person, often deployed, she is frequently on solo parent ops, and due to remote posting locations has no immediate family or ‘village’ nearby to help. Its from this lived experience that the necessity to be prepared came, covering both adventures with her girls, to building in resilience against lifes more unpredictable moments.

Through her work at the Ministry of Defence she has been involved in cross-government war-gaming exercises witnessing first-hand how quickly normality can fracture, how information can become scarce or confusing, and how early moments of uncertainty shape outcomes. Abigail saw a gap, people are often left without basic, practical, kit to cover the first critical hours and days. So she began quietly assembling a kit she wished already existed—something practical, pre-prepared, and reassuring. Not tactical. Not alarmist. Simply ready. Then she met Heather…

Heather has to two little girls and her background brings a complementary depth, her other great loves are Highland hikes, the family camper van, a wee dram of whisky, her perfect day would be escaping to a quiet coffee shop with a book.

Heather has previously worked in and around COBRA—the UK government’s emergency response mechanism formally known as the Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms. COBRA is convened during serious national emergencies to bring together senior ministers, officials, and responders to coordinate decisions at the highest level. It is where complexity, urgency, and consequence meet.

Alongside this strategic exposure, Heather is a trained midwife—a profession rooted in calm decision-making, preparedness, and care in moments that are unpredictable, intense, and deeply human. Midwifery teaches you to plan for many outcomes while keeping people safe, reassured, and informed when it matters most.
